Light Divider

Light Divider

2011 Metal & Textile
198cm X 150cm X 28cm

‘A transparent circuit on a woven room divider, with light as a tool to divide space.’

Aoife Wullur developed a new way of interweaving electronics and fabric. Lines of thin conductive threads form separate circuits which are powered by low-voltage cell batteries. LED’s hang on the fabric like water droplets, held by tiny magnets. These can be rearranged, creating different patterns. Light Divider plays with light and transparency. The appearance ranges from a delicate see-through screen through to an enlightened landscape.
